31DC2014: Day 31-Recreation of Nail art by: Paulina’s Passions

Hello again 🙂

So here is the final post from the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge.

Cannot believe I made it to the end (We will just pretend I am not a few days late hehe)

I was seriously questioning my sanity the last few days.

The challenge is tough, it really tests your creativity and skill.

Ok so we were supposed to honor nails we loved. I was inspired by Paulina’s Passions, this was actually the Nail Art she did for day 12 of the challenge.

I used a few pretties:

• Essence “A Piece of Forever” from the Twilight Breaking Dawn Trend Edition.
• Catrice “Gold Leaf” Top Coat
• TOY Maaji “Maaji’s Ocean”
• TOY Maaji “Candy Bay”
• SinfulColors “Snow Me White”

I also used Studs that I bought from Maskscara (A nail Supply store in Cape Town) and my striping tape from ebay.

So I really had fun doing this.

I really like it 😀 but need to practice painting anchors.

Yipeee its over hehe, will do it all again next year for sure! Great test of skill & creativity.

31DC2014: Day 29-Inspired by “the supernatural”

Are you ready to feel the spook?

I wasn’t sure at first what I was going to do but then I decided on an idea that is rather spooky.

 

 

Being so close to October & Halloween I wanted to get practicing and so I decided to do a Haunted Graveyard Mani.

I tried to stick to a halloweeny colour palette.

I used:

• Essence Colour & Go “Grey-T To Be Here”
• Catrice “For Bright Guys”
• Essence Breaking Dawn Part 2 “Edwards Love”
• Essence Colour & Go “Black is Back”

I painted the light grey base & then did a gradient using “Edwards Love” then I painted on the haunted details. Right down to the dark moon and looming mists.

31DC2014: Day 28-Inspired by “a flag”

Hello my dears,

The finish line is so close, I cannot wait for this to be over. I have really enjoyed it but wow its a push creatively.

Today is day 28 & I had to be inspired by a flag… Well its a bit of a random prompt but I did it.

I was originally going to do a Game of Thrones flag but upon googling it I realised that would require more skill then I had on hand. So my boyfriend suggested Harry Potter instead. He said I should do the house flags pfft… like I would waste my time on the other houses. Im team gryffindor all the way!

I know this is their crest, but the flag sort of looks the same. So I used this as my inspiration for my flag inspired nails.

The colour selection is very basic, I used:

• Essence Colour & Go “Little Miss Sunshine”
• L.A. Colors Art Deco Liner in “Red”

So there you have it, Gryffindor flag nails 😀

They were easy to create thanks to the red liner. I painted the base colour yellow and then used the liner to draw and fill in the checks.

31DC2014: Day 27-Inspired by “artwork”

Happy Saturday my lovelies,

Today is day 27, so 4 days to go. Its madness I tell you, time flies too quickly.

 

I saw this piece on Pinterest a little while back and fell in love with it.

This is just such a pretty painting.

I used:

• Essence Colour & Go “Black is Back”
• Tip Top “In The Navy”
• Essence Colour & Go “The Boy Next Door”
• Essence Colour & Go “Absolutely Blue”
• SinfulColors “Snow Me White”

I started with the black as my base colour, I then dotted big blotches of white and left it to dry. Once that was done I painted on the blues from lightest to darkest.

This feels like dinosaur skin hehe but the effect is great and very similar to the painting.

31DC2014: Day 26-Inspired by “a pattern”

Good Morning my lovelies <3,

Today is day 26 of the 31 day Nail Art Challenge.

Time is flying so fast!

Today we had to pull inspiration from a pattern. I didn’t have 1 source of inspiration but a whole bunch.

I am slightly obsessed with green china. I love the traditional blue & white but green is just so pretty!

So instead of copying just 1, I just did my own version.

I used the following polishes:

• TOY Maaji “Minty Sparrow”
• Essence Colour & Go “Roller Coaster”

I always use Seche Vite when I stamp, I use it between my base colour & my stamping. So if I make a mistake its easier to fix.

I used my MoYou London Bridal Stamping Plate for the detailing.

 

The colour Combo is just so pretty, I must try it again doing something else.

I have been using my Marshmellow stamper but it seems to smudge a bit, do you have any suggestions for a stamper that is a mix of soft & firm?

 

 

31DC2014: Day 25-Inspired by “fashion”

Good Morning my dears,

The second I saw my inspiration image I knew I was going to use it for today’s prompt.

I am no Fashionista, but I can appreciate a stunning design. What is better than a rainbow coloured dress? Not much!

This dress is from Chanel SS14 Collection.

I used a lot of polishes.

• Essence “Flashy Pumpkin”
• Essence “The Boy Next Door”
• Essence “Prom Berry”
• Essence “Little Miss Sunshine”

• Essence “Do You Speak Love”
• Essence “Fame Fatal”
• Essence “Redvolution”

All the Essence polishes are from the Colour & Go Range.

I mixed all the colours with white polish (Except for the last 4 polishes, because red and white make pink). Each time I added a little more white to make the colours lighter.

I am so in love with this nail art.

I have seen someone else who has used these dresses as inspiration and done the same thing, I cant recall on which blog but she also did a great job at it.

31DC2014: Day 23-Inspired by “a movie”

Hello everybody 😀

Its day 23 and I am starting to lose my steam. I find these last few prompts hella-hard! I only finished this Mani late last night.

Luckily tomorrow is Heritage Day in South Africa so we get to have a mid week break 😀 Yay!

 

So as you can see there isn’t much further to go. Yipee! After today’s post there are 8 more to go, I think tomorrow’s prompt is going to be hard but then the rest all look fairly easy.

Anyone have book suggestions? I can see “The Fault in our Stars” being a crowd fav so will avoid that one.

Some of my favourite books are: The beautiful Creatures Saga, The Hunger Games Trilogy, Every Harry Potter Book, Anything Katie Fforde writes and every Nicholas Sparks Novel.

 

Ok so today’s prompt is Movie… This really was tough because I love movies, I don’t just watch them, I disappear into them. I can watch a movie 100 times and not get sick of it (only good movies of course, the bad ones don’t get watched again).

I first settled on P.S. I Love You for today but it didn’t come out good at all so I brainstormed and decided to go with “Babe: Pig in the City”.

Let me just warn you, I was not my most creative.

So the polishes I used are as follows:

31DC2014: Day 22-Inspired by “a song”

Good Morning 😀

Today is Inspired by a Song… I thought about it for a whole of 5 seconds and I knew exactly what song I wanted.

 

Its sort of a depro song but man is it stunning! Its called “Black Roses” sung by Claire Bowen aka Scarlett O’Conner from Nashville (The TV Series).

Now my only problem was how to paint friggen black roses without just having black blobs on my nails…

I’m not so great at painting roses, so I just drew them.

31DC2014: Day 19-Galaxies

Good Morning Lovelies,

Today is Galaxies. Woopeee hehe, I love doing these, no matter if you think you messed it up it just always works out!

I have done a few Galaxy Mani’s see here & here.

And I have wanted to do a pastel galaxy mani for ever!

I used a ton of polishes:

• China Glaze “Glistening Snow”
• China Glaze ” Tart-y For The Party”
• China Glaze “Don’t Be A Luna-Tic”
• Essence Colour & Go “Free Hugs”
• Essence Colour & Go “Absolutely Blue”
• SinfulColors “Snow Me White”
• SinfulColors “Unicorn”
• SinfulColors “Lagon”
• Seche Vite

Everything was just sponged on at random over the white sponging. I used “Absolutely Blue” as the base colour.

It was loads of fun! And absolutely my Fav one ever!!!

31DC2014: Day 16-Geometric

Good Day my lovelies,

Originally this prompt was Tribal but its been changed to the politically correct prompt now called “geometric”.

 

I don’t really know how I ended up with the Mani I got, I know my colour selection was purely because of some 70’s colour combo I saw somewhere and immediately thought “eeeww” who would wear that and then had to try it 😀 #imaweirdo #sometimes lol.

So like I said, this mani kind of just happended.

 

I used:

• W Nail Art “Wasabi”
• Essence Colour & Go “Little Miss Sunshine”
• SinfulColors “Snow Me White”
• W Nail Art “Bingo Flamingo”

It really does give off a 70’s Vibe.

I personally dont LOVE it! My lines are not what they should be! I need a thinner lining brush.
