31DC2014: Day 23-Inspired by “a movie”

Hello everybody πŸ˜€

Its day 23 and I am starting to lose my steam. I find these last few prompts hella-hard! I only finished this Mani late last night.

Luckily tomorrow is Heritage Day in South Africa so we get to have a mid week break πŸ˜€ Yay!

So as you can see there isn’t much further to go. Yipee! After today’s post there are 8 more to go, I think tomorrow’s prompt is going to be hard but then the rest all look fairly easy.

Anyone have book suggestions? I can see “The Fault in our Stars” being a crowd fav so will avoid that one.

Some of my favourite books are: The beautiful Creatures Saga, The Hunger Games Trilogy, Every Harry Potter Book, Anything Katie Fforde writes and every Nicholas Sparks Novel.

Ok so today’s prompt is Movie… This really was tough because I love movies, I don’t just watch them, I disappear into them. I can watch a movie 100 times and not get sick of it (only good movies of course, the bad ones don’t get watched again).

I first settled on P.S. I Love You for today but it didn’t come out good at all so I brainstormed and decided to go with “Babe: Pig in the City”.

Let me just warn you, I was not my most creative.

20140922_210535So the polishes I used are as follows:

  • W Nail Art Pen “Bingo Flamingo”
  • SinfulColors “Snow Me White”
  • Essence Colour & Go “Modern Romance”
  • Models Own Nail Art Pen in Sliver
  • Cina Black Nail Art Pen

20140922_210452So there it is. Babe in the City.

What movie did you do? Or would have done?

31DC2014: Day 22-Inspired by “a song”

Good Morning πŸ˜€

Today is Inspired by a Song… I thought about it for a whole of 5 seconds and I knew exactly what song I wanted.

Its sort of a depro song but man is it stunning! Its called “Black Roses” sung by Claire Bowen aka Scarlett O’Conner from Nashville (The TV Series).

You can see the video here.

Now my only problem was how to paint friggen black roses without just having black blobs on my nails…

I Β used the following polishes:

  • Essence Colour & Go “Grey-t To Be Here”
  • L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Liner “Bright Green”
  • Cina Black Nail Art Pen
  • China Glaze “Glistening Snow”

I’m not so great at painting roses, so I just drew them.

What do you think?

31DC2014: Day 18-Half Moons

Good morning my Lovelies,

Today I was in the mood for something a little bit French themed.

I have been obsessed with French Theme anything for years! My first encounter with french themed nail art was Totally Cool Nails tutorialΒ and I attempted the Mani in like 2012 I think???

Ironically today is #tbt so its kind of cool to see what I used to be like. I can actually remember doing this, I remember be so proud of myself!

So todays mani is also inspired by Totally Cool Nails.

So today I used:

  • Cina Black Nail Art Pen
  • SinfulColors “Heartfelt”
  • SinfulColors “Snow Me White”

I actually love this and will be doing it again! Possibly multiple times using various pastels πŸ˜€

Share your Halfmoon Mani with me. I would love to see it.

31DC2014: Day 4-Green Nails

Its day 4 My lovelies,

Green nails for days πŸ˜€ lol I spent a good few days brainstorming for this one. Its not lie when I tell you that 1 third of my collection is purely green nail polish so to narrow my colour selection down was crazy difficult. I ended up using a huge amount of polishes but the overall look was so cool.

This mani actually didnt even take that long considering the long list of polishes.

So I used the following polishes for this mani:

  • China Glaze “Unpredictable”
  • Tip Top “Army Vibes”
  • Essence Colour & Go ” Upper Green Side”
  • Essence Colour & Go ” Walk On The Wild Side”
  • Essence Colour & Go “We Rock The Green”
  • Essence Colour & Go ” Splash!”
  • Models Own Silver Liner Nail Art Pen
  • Cina Black Nail Art Pen
  • L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Liner “Bright Green”
  • Seche Vite

Its Stained Glass Nails or Mosaic Nails, I cant decide which one to call it.

I just painted on the colours at random and then added a coat of Seche, then outlined all the colours and then coated seche again.

Easy as Pie πŸ˜€

Review time with Nail Candi

Happy Friday my lovely followers,

As you can tell I am so happy its Friday, I am utterly finished after this week. My boyfriend started his first job in his field of studies and has to wake up at 5:30am in the morning to get ready for work. I have been getting up with him so we have a few extra minutes together before we start our days, yes I know its my own fault for being tired then.

So anyway that has lead me to have less time in the evening to do nail art! I know still my fault tehe.

I literally left this review to the last minute, I knew I wanted at least part of it done so I could post it today and so I stuck to a strict schedule last night, instead of unwinding in front of the TV with a drink in my hand, I jumped up on my bed pulled out all my polishes and got down to business.

My Nail art for today’s post was inspired by Very Emily’s Shattered Glass & Diamond Nails that she posted yesterday (see post here, its stunning!) on her blog. I loved the negative space aspect to it and always wanted to try it out so I decided to do it! Plus it makes the Nail Candi look “Wowza”.

Ok so lets get to it!

Nail Candi contacted me last week and asked if they could send me some goodies to review, of course I said yes as I had been perving of OrdinaryMisfits reviews of their pretties. (see here & here)

So now for some background on Nail Candi… Nail Candi was founded by Michell Sierra, famous for doing nails on all the runways of SA Fashion week plus working with local and international Celebs. She saw an opening in the South African Market for Nail Art Jewelery and started working on the pieces. If I can just say, Thank you Michell, you were so right! We needed these!

I received 3 different items from their catalogue, but today I will be showing you their “Candi Crown Jewel” which can be bought hereΒ (PS I will list other stockists at the end of the post)

Ok so back to the Mani, I fell in love with “Very Emily’s” adaption of a negative space mani by adding a glitter base instead of a naked base.

My mani is a Negative Space Skittle Mani.

I started with 2 coats of Essence nail Art Special effects topper in 08 Nights In Vegas, the as always I am too lazy to wait for things to dry so I didn’t want to tape, instead a did some free hand using my Cina Nail Art Pen. I also added some accents of Essence Colour & Go 178 Hello Spring!

Finally I added a thick coat of Seche Vite and stuck on the Candi Crown Jewels.

I have a few suggestions for application & removal, firstly the instructions for the jewels state that it needs to be stuck down with nail glue, I disagree Seche Vite works just as well. I wasn’t too keen on adding glue to my nails so I tried Seche Vite and it worked like a dream! I went to bed with the jewels on and woke up this morning and they are still in the same place. I do strongly believe that any old top coat will not hold the jewels in place, if you don’t have Seche Vite then rather stick to the nail glue.

Secondly the removal process also sounded a but scary to me, its suggested that you use a nail clipper to unhinge the jewel from your nail but again I am too worried about what that might do to my nail so instead you could get a piece of cotton thread, wrap it around your fingers as if you are going to floss, dip the cotton into some acetone free remover and slowly guide it under the jewel until it comes loose. This process does take a bit longer but at least this way you can protect both your nail and the jewel.

I must say I really LOVE the way these jewels look, its so blingy. I keep getting distracted by how it shimmers in the light.

I give these Nail Candi Crowns a rating of… 5 out of 5 πŸ˜€

Rating 5

Halloween Challange- Free For All

Happy belated Halloween… I got a bit busy! But people LOVED my Halloween Nails lol

For the Final Challenge Day I did something I had seen a few times and loved! I thought it was more cute than scary!

I thought these came out ok, more like funny Ninja’s than Mummies but cute non-the-less.

I used Essence 136 Loves Recipe, My black Cina Nail Art Pen and Sinful Colors 101 Snow Me White.

All The Best

Halloween Challenge- Trick Or Treat

How about both?

Halloween isn’t a massive holiday here in South Africa so we do not have any “Candy” synonymous with the holiday. I googled Halloween candy nails and mostly Candy Corn nails popped up. I decided to try them out but wanted to make them a little different too.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat

So I added my ultimate fear… Spiders!

This Mani made my nails look ten times longer which is awesome!

For this Mani I used:

Essence Colour & Go in 118 Little Miss Sunrise and in 145 Flashy Pumpkin, Sinful Colors 101 Snow Me White and my Cina Nail Art Pen.

What other Candy could you think of to do a Mani? Would love to try or see what you did.
