31DC2014: Day 26-Inspired by “a pattern”

Good Morning my lovelies <3,

Today is day 26 of the 31 day Nail Art Challenge.

Time is flying so fast!

chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-just-peachyToday we had to pull inspiration from a pattern. I didn’t have 1 source of inspiration but a whole bunch.

I am slightly obsessed with green china. I love the traditional blue & white but green is just so pretty!

PicMonkey CollageSo instead of copying just 1, I just did my own version.

You can check out my pinterest for more images, just go to the High Tea Party board. (link at top right)

I used the following polishes:

  • TOY Maaji “Minty Sparrow”
  • Essence Colour & Go “Roller Coaster”

I always use Seche Vite when I stamp, I use it between my base colour & my stamping. So if I make a mistake its easier to fix.

I used my MoYou London Bridal Stamping Plate for the detailing.

The colour Combo is just so pretty, I must try it again doing something else.

I have been using my Marshmellow stamper but it seems to smudge a bit, do you have any suggestions for a stamper that is a mix of soft & firm?

Blogging vs. Life

Hello my Lovelies,

I hope you are all good and well 😀

I have to be honest, blogging has not been my main focus as of late. It becomes really hard when life throws unexpected situations into the mix.

For me personally my life just seems to be so filled up with things that are more important than nail polish at the moment. For example Sundays are the days I get most of my swatching and nail art done for the blog, this Sunday that just passed was meant for exactly that… Until I moved a picture frame in our bedroom and found a green forest of mold growing behind it.

Cape Town has been exceptionally wet this winter, the back of our house has been flooded for ages! Its so bad that we have water lilies growing there, I mean hello those only grow in wetlands… So that’s saying something! Due to the wet weather and the fact that our room never gets any sunlight we developed a mold problem, at first it was all fine and we would wipe down the affected areas but when I saw that picture frame I realized the problem was way bigger than I had thought. Thus we had to do a massive clean.

Emptied out the entire room and got scrubbing! It took us 5 hours to get rid of all the spores. And of course 5 hours of exposure to harsh chemicals ruined my nails. In the last 3 days I have chipped, split and broken almost all of my nails. My hands have lost all natural moisture. I am back on my nail rehab program to try and get it right again.

The worst part is I had so many plans that now need to be pushed back.

I have a review on 1 more Nail Candi Jewel to do and swatches galore. It all has to wait now :(.

I guess these things happen, we must make due…

So because I have nothing new to show you, I decided to dedicate this post to the mean greens lol… Ok Harsh! Yeah its not my green nail polishes fault that mold exists in this world, they merely share the same colour…

So here is a recap of the green polishes that have graced the blog…

Tip Top Haul

Hello Lovelies,

So every few months Clicks have a deal where you buy 3 Tip Top polishes and the cheapest is free. This lot is actually from the previous sale (like 4 months ago woops I know #badblogger). They have recently had another sale too but I missed it 😦

Purple Bow Peep

First one that caught my eye was “Purple Bow Peep”, is from the Playful Range.

Its a creamy rich purple polish that only needs 2 coats. I needed a purple this rich and beautiful. I have noticed my collection is filled with lighter shades so this one happily found a home.

“Get The Party Started” is from the Neon Range. Its a bright pink Neon, like really bright! Its a typical neon polish though, it requires 3 coats to reach opacity. I find this occurs with most neon polished I have used. It takes a few layers… But dont give up on it, they pop like crazy once you have all the layers on. (PS you can also do a white polish base for even more pop)

Lastly is “Hap-Pea” which just reminds me of that song… “Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof” or something like that lol.

Its a dusty mint polish that too is deliciously creamy! Required 2 coats and is from the Playful Range.

Tip Top polishes are 3 Free and Local to South Africa (Local is Lekker!) Yeeeah! Love supporting Local brands! And with one this good who wouldnt hehe!

Comparison Post #2

Hello Lovelies,

I have a whole new comparison post for you today. YAY!

Today we will be looking at SinfulColors Lagon & China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On.

These colours are Identical, it’s only the finishes that differ.

Lagon is a very creamy polish with a glossy finish and Keep Calm, Paint On has a white shimmer.

I didn’t use any top coat and both polishes were 2 coats. I probably should have done 3 coats for Lagon as it’s a bit streaky, the streak didn’t show up until I took the image 😦

Me & My Ice-Cream Trend Edition

Hello Lovelies,

Today is my first post featuring the new blog design and layout, how exciting!

I have been waiting for this collection since I saw it launched in Europe. I was lucky enough to see, touch and feel it back in September at a Cosmetix event and that filled me with even more anticipation to have it.

I pestered Cosmetix/Essence South Africa endlessly to find out when it would be launched. It was finally launched in April but only at selected Clicks stores. Sadly by the time I got there the displays were cleaned out! I managed to buy 3 polishes from the collection by visiting various stores but that was it. I was utterly heart broken. This was the one I had been waiting so long for.

Then Essence had a giveaway on their Facebook page to win a few things from the collection and I won it! I was so filled with joy, I think the universe knew how badly I wanted this collection.

I got a lot more than I thought I would, I am so grateful for it too because Essence helped me to complete the collection of polishes, they sent the exact one I didn’t have.

So to start off I am going to do something a bit different. I will do makeup swatches 😀 I know right! Finally! I do not quiet have the confidence to put up a shot of me actually wearing the makeup yet but I can show you what it would look like on fair skin with a pink undertone.

First up is the “Always in my Mint” baked Eye shadow.

This eye shadow is mint sparkle marbled with a peach shimmer, it can be applied wet or dry but I prefer to keep it dry. It has a beautiful radiance. I use it to highlight my eyes.

Next up is the “I-CY U” Shimmer pearls. It’s filled with yellow, orange pink and mint pearls.

They are great to give that finishing glow to your makeup look or body.

I decided to swatch each colour pearl, if you have patience imagine a shimmer rainbow on your face.

I also received the Lip balm “Cosnova” and the Hand wipes “I scream for ice cream”

The lips balm is so pretty with its pink & blue swirls. It smells like those ice snap things you put in your freezer and when they are ready you snap them in half and enjoy.

The Hand wipes smell like Neapolitan ice cream. I was a little disappointed at how small the wipes are, it would have been great if they were a bit bigger. Also they don’t add any moisture to your hands so I found I would wipe my hands and then need to moisturise afterwards.

I also got some Nail Stickers, “Rainbow Sprinkles” that look like hundreds and thousands on your nails.

Rainbow Sprinkles

These really annoyed me. I put them on my nails and immediately after the image was taken, I took them off. They are just like Caviar nails only these balls fell off quicker. I am not a fan of having extras on my nails unless they are stuck down and only come off when I decide so. Also the removal process was a little scary, I felt like I was ripping my nails off. This was the only product from the whole collection that I wasn’t happy with.

The last item I received in my prize was “Icylicious”. It’s the polish I chose when I got my Mani done at the event last year. It is also my fav out of all the polishes from this collection. So I was really happy when they sent me a bottle as it was the only one I didn’t have.

This polish is a soft peach pastel with a white shimmer, it also has a sweet fragrance to it. I painted 3 coats as it was slightly difficult to make even.

All the polishes are painted 3 coats no top coat.

The next 3 polishes I bought and were not part of the prize from Essence.

First is “Ben & Cherries” <- such a cute name! It’s a pastel pink with white shimmer.

Ben & Cherries

Then “Ice, Ice Baby”, it’s a purple pastel with white shimmer.

Ice, Ice Baby

And lastly “Always in my Mint”, it’s a mint pastel polish with white shimmer.

Always in Mint

As you can see the polish is a bit streaky. To me, I think the polish application would have been much smoother but the bristles of the brush were very coarse.

This isn’t the entire collection, there were 2 more eye shadows and 2 other lip balms as well as a cream blush but those were all sold out.

SinfulColors Pastel Swatches

Good Afternoon my neglected followers 😦

I have been so swamped at work and been getting home after the sun is way down I just have not had time to do any posts, I am sorry for this. I received a job promotion 2 weeks ago so that’s why I am so much busier now.

I have about 12 posts sitting in my drafts waiting to be finalized and blah blah blah, so I thought while I take a quick lunch break I would post one of the posts that has been sitting there a while.

Today I give you some Sinful Pastels I picked up in January.

953 Unicorn

953 Unicorn

First is Unicorn, its a very soft yellow and will be used a million times this Easter 🙂 it seems very fitting!

I love how creamy it is! And application was super easy!

1008 Ciel

1008 Ciel

Next is Ciel, I am annoyed by this image because this isn’t the colour of the polish… The polish is way more blue but stupid lighting ruined it!

Not to worry, I have plans for a proper light box soon and will then recapture it.

1009 Lagon

1009 Lagon

And lastly Lagon. I love this! But who doesn’t love mint polish?

I will be hosting a giveaway soon so keep an eye out for that post 😀

All The Best

The Essence Trend Edition- Oz The Great and Powerful

Oz The Great And Powerful Collection

Oz The Great And Powerful Collection

I have always thought that Crackle top Coats were really cool and these are such beautiful colours. See the swatches below.

I started with “Master Of Illusion” and put it on 2 different base coats so you could see the effect on different colours. Remember your base coat always decides how good your Crackle will look.

01 Master Of Illusion

01 Master Of Illusion

I put “Winds Of Change” on a Gold Base and I got a little worried. This is the only Crackle I didn’t like. I originally put it on a black & white base but when it dried and cracked it looked more like dried blood than a pretty polish. So I removed it and tried again on the gold. It still resembled old blood vs. pretty polish, the flash makes it look better but this is not a nice one.

02 Winds Of Change

02 Winds Of Change

I’m a fan of Black and Gold full stop. There was no doubt about pairing the two. But as you can see the gold sucked some life out of the black base coat. Still my Fav Crackle though!

03 Good Witch

03 Good Witch

I originally put this crackle on a beige base but it did not look appealing at all! So reverted back to black. It makes the pink POP more. Very Pretty and my second fav.

04 Winged Wonder

04 Winged Wonder

Once again I used a Gold Base. I thought it looked pretty cool, almost like a super hero costume.

05 Delicate But Determined

05 Delicate But Determined

All in all the Oz Trend Edition looks cool but was slightly difficult to apply perfectly as you cant paint over a section that already has Crackle on it, it just pull the crackle off. Also to remove the crackle is a mess, it stained my fingers, especially the Red Crackle.

But I must say the Crackle is beautiful if done correctly!

Please note the Oz Trend Edition was not sponsored. I purchased the polished myself.
