Hello new adventure

Hello my lovelies,

I am writing to you with a heart filled with mixed feelings.

Today will be my last post here on Polished Tickles. I am sure some of you may have seen this coming due to my extended absence.

Sadly I fell out of love with Nail Art blogging, its really difficult to be inspired all the time & to spend large sums of money on Nail Polish. Luckily I have started a new blog. It will be an all rounder content wise and its a little more personal as I will actually talk about life. If you want to stick with me and make the crossover you can head over to tylerleigh.co.za.

So a little background? Well it all started exactly a year ago… My granny passed away and she was my everything! At my 21st she told everyone that in her life I was her soul mate, the one she would spend her life with. This was true for me too, I was so lucky to have her. She was one of my best friends. She fetched me from school almost every day (for 12 years) and she helped me find jobs and drove me to every interview. She was so supportive. I miss her everyday. Loosing her gutted me and changed me. I lost a little piece of myself.

I became very unmotivated and distracted. I thought that if I just kept going I would come right again and be able to get back into swatching and Nail Art every spare moment of the day like I used to. When the 31 Day challenge rolled around I was convinced that it was my saving grace. I committed to completing it. And I did but I felt washed up and burnt out. So I took a break… Which lasted terribly long. I posted a few times but I posted content that is more in line with my new blog vs. Polished tickles norm.

I did really try, I looked at re-branding and so many other things but my heart just wasn’t in it anymore.

984db550eed623d31e0a22a84ce80032

I finally admitted that it was time for a change.  So I started working on tylerleigh.co.za. I have a plan and have started working on the idea’s that have been buzzing around my head for months. I am feeling excited again which is great!

My new blog launches on the 1st of March. I find that slightly poetic seeing as Polished Tickles will be 3 years old.

I am still contemplating whether I should leave Polished Tickles online or pull it down? I’m thinking I will let it live out its Domain registration for the year and then take it down.

Don’t think I have given up on Nail Art, I haven’t! I will be doing Nail Art on the new blog I just wont be obligated to do it in every single post.

Thank you all for following me and growing my blog over the last few years. I have loved all the interactions we have had.

My 24th Birthday Wishlist

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year 😀

I hope you all had a lovely holiday and have set some awesome goals for the new year. I have almost finished my resolutions for 2015.

I wanted to be more financially savvy with my money & to get on medical aid.

So far I have completed a 2015 budget, now to stick to it. The medical aid has been applied for, so just waiting on confirmation. My other goals are still a bit top secret and are still a work in progress but I will share them closer to the time.

This year I turn 24! I am a little disturbed by how quickly the time has flown since I left high school. My birthday is the 16th of Feb… A Monday! Lucky me hehe. So to make myself feel better I decided to draw up a birthday wishlist of things I am going to try get my hands on. There are a few big ticket items I want that I am busy saving for and one or two I have hinted to various people about. Lets take a look shall we…

birthday wishlist

  1. A Lily Boutique Dress. I have fallen in love with their stuff. I am saving up to buy a few to make the $25.00 shipping fee worth it. They do Ship to South Africa so that is a plus.
  2. A DSLR CameraI am still doing some price hunting on this but for sure it will be a gift for myself, maybe not on my birthday but definitely within this year!
  3. Katy Perry “Royal Revolution”. I love a good celebrity fragrance, I have worked my way through various Britney Spears ones and the “S” by Shakira perfume. It’s now time for a new chapter.
  4. A Yankee Candle.  I have heard blogger after blogger rave about these candles, I now must have one. I would love a spicy or citrus scented one. Not a huge fan of sweet scents.
  5. The Clarisonic. I don’t even care which one! I just need to have this. My skin struggle is real and painful and I feel this is the ultimate tool to help me fight back. Again I have heard only good things about this specific brand.
  6. A Tangle Teezer.  My hair is shorter now so I think this will be great for my bag.
  7. A Brightside Bubble Bar. This is my all time favorite bubble bar from LUSH. I love its smell hhmmmm.
  8. A Blackberry Bath Bomb. I have actually never tried this bath bomb before, it looks like it will be so good. *runs off to YouTube bath bomb in action.
  9. Colourful Teacups. I love tea and I would love to drink my tea in style and not a coffee mug. Although if its unique I would drink it out of a mug too. I’m not fussy.
  10. A Phillips Juicer. I like the shape of this one, it looks less bulky than all the others on the market. I like less bulky!
  11. Yoga Mat. Yip I am on a small new years health kick. I am busy learning about Pilates and need a mat. Figured here would be a great place to suggest it as an Idea.
  12. A Cloud 9I think my GHD is dying, it won’t get as hot as it used to. That’s why I want a new straightner. My hair stylist uses a cloud 9 on my hair and its magical! My hair is so straight after she does it.

So that’s my wishlist, working hard to have all the things, it might take time but its always great to have something to work towards.

What’s on your wishlist?

One lovely blog Award

Hello again my lovelies,

I know what you are all thinking… Tyler, why are you blogging? You are supposed to be on a blogging break!

I know, I know! But I do miss it! And I feel like if I don’t do something remotely creative I might pop!

So in October my cousin nominated me for the “One Lovely Blog” Award. Its been a while since then but I decided that I should probably get it done. Simone I am sorry its taken me so long, I really needed the break. But better late than never right?

Ok so Simone has a lovely blog called “Our Flavourful Life” that showcases all the awesome things her & her husband get up to (including delicious South African recipes they make). It has some serious YUM-Factor! Simone came to me before she started her blog to ask about starting a blog. I was most excited! I love when people are interested in Blogging, its such a release. I am so happy she is doing so well. Thank you for the nomination, it really means so much.

blog-award

The rules for the nomination are as follows. You must:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you.
  2. Add the “One Lovely Blog Award” logo onto your post/blog.
  3. Share seven facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 15 bloggers you admire/read and inform them bu commenting on their blog.

7 facts about myself:

  • I recently became really, really addicted to watching YouTube stars: Zoella, Tanya Burr & Sprinkle Of Glitter. They have been added to the list along with good old Favorites like Jenna Marbles, Jess Bunty, Suzelle DIY & Not Another Poppie. They have all made me seriously consider YouTubing but I have no clue what I would do.
  • I am such a messy person, not sure how my Boyfriend lives with me? I keep everything organised but clothes… They are literally always on the floor or bunched up and shoved into my closet. I did a clean up the other day… It lasted that 1 day.
  • I am really good at cooking Pasta dishes (I friggen LOVE pasta), I made a goats cheese Mac n’ Cheese the other day… Lets just say I got a request to cook it again.
  • I am a total homebody, I could stay home every weekend and be the happiest person in the world. I am also seriously content with my own company. But to avoid being anti-social and becoming a total recluse I venture out into the world with my boyfriend or my best friend. I am not a massive party animal either but I do enjoy a good cocktail 😉
  • I am a huge softie! Can shed a tear at the slightest heart string tug. I can even have all the feels for a well written facebook post. #imaweirdo. But seriously, I cry when I see the homeless woman and children on the streets (not the drugged up kind, the ones that come here from African Countries to find a better life only to be homeless and hungry) I get so sad when I see animals that have been hit by cars… I would rather crash my car than kill an animal.
  • I have a very strong obsession with mustaches, not the real ones on peoples faces… That would be odd! I am obsessed with the image of mustaches. I bought a pair of shoes because it had mustaches on it. I also own 2 different kinds of nail decals, mustache clips & jewellery.
  • I love making things on Photoshop. Like this little scrapbook thing I made below 🙂

2014 SCRAP copy

Ok so I don’t want to nominate anyone so I am just going to share my 15 favorite blogs.

  1. Lipgloss Kisses
  2. Pink Peonies
  3. Our Flavourful Life
  4. Arum Lilea
  5. Very Emily
  6. Zoella
  7. Tanya Burr
  8. Sprinkle Of Glitter
  9. Ordinary Misfit
  10. Zie Darling
  11. Not Another Poppie

#GstarRAW Women’s Night

Hello my Lovelies ❤

I hope you are all well and getting excited for the holidays (I am so excited)!

Today I have a rather different post for you, Its a fashion post *waits for gasps of horror. Hehe yes I do plan on branching out in 2015 to accommodate for multiple aspects of my life, including fashion and a few other new area’s.

Last week I was contacted by the lovelies over at Vivid Luxury and asked if I would like to attend an event for #GstarRAW, I said I would and asked if I could bring a friend? They said yes, which is awesome! Especially because I don’t know any of the Cape Town Fashion bloggers.

So I dragged my bestest to join me for a night of #RAW fun 🙂 <—- See what I did there?

I must just put this out there by saying… I do not consider myself stylish or “with it” when it comes to fashion so I was slightly daunted when I needed to choose an outfit. My wardrobe is rather basic! I went with Black Skinnies & a leopard print blouse. My clutch is vintage (It belonged to my granny) & some mustache pumps.

(Left: Me, Right: My bestie Daniella)

I have only ever been to 1 other event and I remember the food being delish! I love food, so I was excited to see what would be on the menu at the event… Lets just say I was not disappointed!

Untitled-1Onto my favorite part of the night… NAILS!

Morgan Taylor was one of the sponsors for the evening and with the help of the Foxbox ladies we all got to have our nails done sporting which ever colour that tickled our fancy.

Untitled-1I chose “Don’t Worry, Be Brilliant” and its from the Neon Collection. Its a neon peach polish. Daniella also chose it when she saw it on my nails but I told her she should have a Holo feature nail (Kinda wish I saw the holo glitter so I could have it too) to make it extra flashy.

10394089_756823067688088_7275514217141626204_n

Here we are just casually flashing our nails. We used the #bestienails (Share your Bestie Nails using the hashtag too)

Ok so onto the point of the evening, the denims…

I will start by sharing a little video with you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vv-z93arjsI

We watched it at the event and it was pretty inspirational.

“Woman need to celebrate how they’re built and I feel like these denims can achieve that”~Anelisa Mangcu.

Its one of my favorite quotes.

I live in denims, they are my life so I completely agree with everything #GStarRaw is!

I do however have one thing to add, these denims are an investment. I was slightly overwhelmed by the cost of a pair but as they are luxury denims they are something you work towards and definitely something you keep for life.

Daniella & I had a really good evening, I wish I was a bit more outgoing and actually mingled with the people at the event but hopefully I will build up the courage for the next one.

You can follow GStarRAW on Twitter & Facebook

A little goodbye “We-fie” is in order 🙂

{Review} Born Pretty Store Goodies

Good Morning all you lovelies,

I was sent some awesome goodies to test & try from Born Pretty Store and boy were they goodies!

I am part of the affiliate program and I was emailed by my rep who gave me a budget and I got to choose what I wanted to review. I chose 4 items but today I am only going to show you 2 of them.

Review copyI have been brain storming the heck out of these 2 items to see what I could come up with. I am so excited to show you what I did because a massive amount of time and effort went in it.

20141105_214813So I used the following items for my Mani:

The water decal SH02 & the 3D Nail Jewel.

20141105_214837I went for a full on vintage look.

I spent a great deal of time cutting out all the little flowers and putting them on my nails but I also added a full nail to show you what it would look like.

It was really easy to apply the decals, I just submerged them in a bit of water for a minute & then placed them on my nails using a tweezers.

In terms of the 3D jewel I used Seche Vite to attach it to my nail (Although nail glue would make it stick longer). But if you lost a jewel that would be ok because you get 5 if you order them.

I painted a Matte topcoat over everything to seal it off and tah-dah a super easy vintage mani.

What do you think?

The Born Pretty Store is having a Massive sale at the moment as it is their anniversary and each day they are announcing something new and exciting. If you would like to browse the website you can check them out here. Or you can follow them on any of their social media platforms: Facebook//Twitter//Instagram.

Also if you would like a super awesome discount on your order you can used PTB10K31 to get 10% off.

{Review} Ice Box Colors

Good Morning my Loves,

So today I have some new polishes to show you. This is the first time I have ever tried this brand.

Today’s post is just swatches but I will get some Nail Art done too which you can catch on Instagram & Facebook.

Review

So on to the polishes!

So here is a little outtake from their website (I will add all the links at the bottom)

outstanding nail lustres range with its dazzling colours, stunning square bottles in both 7ml & 15ml, with its quick drying, long lasting, chip-resistant wear, is also 3-Free and is made in South Africa to the highest international standards.”

As you can see this is a Local brand which instantly made me love it more! Anything Local gets me all giddy!

No Sugar Please

No Sugar Please (1)

No Sugar Please is a rich dark chocolate brown polish.

When I first painted it on I got a little worried as the initial coat was so translucent but as soon as I applied the second coat I was looking at a fully opaque polish. The brush is amazing! It is thick so I only needed to paint the brush over my nails twice to get full nail coverage.

The dry time was fairly fast which was very exciting.

No Sugar Please (2)Just look at that shine! I didn’t add a top coat.

Nothing To Prove

Nothing To Prove (1)I am slightly obsessed with Nude polishes and Nothing To Prove didn’t disappoint!

The formula for both the polishes was exceptionally great and I found the smell of the polish was really pleasant too, it didn’t over-power the room.

Aesthetically this my all time favorite Nail polish bottle shape, its just so different!

Nothing To Prove (2)I am really confident that this is a must try brand for all you local ladies.

What do you think of these Neutrals?

They have a massive collection of pretty polishes (including Holo’s, Yipeee) If you want to see more swatches check out Michelle from OrdinaryMisfit review here.

Ok so you can check out this brand on the following Platforms:

Facebook, Twitter & on their Website.

You can contact them via Facebook to find your nearest stockist.

The Big Break

Hello my loves,

Its been a while since I posted… Last time was the last post of #31DC2014.

I honestly felt absolutely finished! And I took a few days after the challenge to try and regroup my brain but the only thing I could think of was that I just need some serious down time.

This year has been one roller coaster ride after the next. My personal life has had some crazy bumps along the way. And my work life has just been so amazing and successful and I have had to step up and take on some awesome responsibilities so that too has lead to my need for a break.

Blog Break

I have a few area’s of my life that need a bit of work and so I need to focus on that before my blog. It makes me super teary when I think about it though because I just LOVE blogging!

While I was busy with the challenge I was approached by a few companies to do reviews so obviously I will be doing them really soon.

I just thought that I would rather explain why I would be absent vs. just not returning.

I owe you more than what I have been giving, my posts have been so short and simple which isn’t great, so I plan to work on that.

I am not leaving forever, I will be back. I am just not sure when, most likely in the new year. I promise this though, you can keep up to date on my Instagram because I will continue to do nails, I just won’t be Blogging.

So the awesome product reviews to look forward to?

Well an awesome brand called Ice Box Colors sent me some polishes to review so those will be up this weekend. Then The Born Pretty Store sent me a bunch of goodies to play with and I still have a stunning Nail Candi Nail Jewel to show you.

So you can expect those to come up as well as a guest post or 2 😀

I am also opening my blog up to you, would you like to do a guest post?? You can email me at info@polishedticklesandbeauty.com to inquire.

31DC2014: Day 31-Recreation of Nail art by: Paulina’s Passions

Hello again 🙂

So here is the final post from the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge.

Cannot believe I made it to the end (We will just pretend I am not a few days late hehe)

I was seriously questioning my sanity the last few days.

chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-just-peachy

The challenge is tough, it really tests your creativity and skill.

Ok so we were supposed to honor nails we loved. I was inspired by Paulina’s Passions, this was actually the Nail Art she did for day 12 of the challenge.

20141005_170959

I used a few pretties:

  • Essence “A Piece of Forever” from the Twilight Breaking Dawn Trend Edition.
  • Catrice “Gold Leaf” Top Coat
  • TOY Maaji “Maaji’s Ocean”
  • TOY Maaji “Candy Bay”
  • SinfulColors “Snow Me White”

I also used Studs that I bought from Maskscara (A nail Supply store in Cape Town) and my striping tape from ebay.

So I really had fun doing this.

Day 31

I really like it 😀 but need to practice painting anchors.

Yipeee its over hehe, will do it all again next year for sure! Great test of skill & creativity.

31DC2014: Day 30-Inspired by “a tutorial”

Good evening lovelies,

So wow this week was crazy,it swallowed me whole.

I have the last 2 posts for the challenge tonight. I did them today.

chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-just-peachyI was inspired by a Youtube Tutorial from cutepolish (see here)

I did have exactly the same colours as her so I used the closest ones in my neon collection that I could.

20141005_161331

I used the following polishes:

  • TOY Maaji “Candy Bay”
  • Bourjois “Cerise Noire”
  • OPI “Steady As She Rose”
  • Catrice “For Bright Guys”
  • TOY Maaji “Maaji’s Ocean”

Its just a basic dotticure but I thought the colours looked so pretty together I just had to try it.

Day 30What do you think?
