{Review} Ice Box Colors

Good Morning my Loves,

So today I have some new polishes to show you. This is the first time I have ever tried this brand.

Today’s post is just swatches but I will get some Nail Art done too which you can catch on Instagram & Facebook.

Review

So on to the polishes!

So here is a little outtake from their website (I will add all the links at the bottom)

outstanding nail lustres range with its dazzling colours, stunning square bottles in both 7ml & 15ml, with its quick drying, long lasting, chip-resistant wear, is also 3-Free and is made in South Africa to the highest international standards.”

As you can see this is a Local brand which instantly made me love it more! Anything Local gets me all giddy!

No Sugar Please

No Sugar Please (1)

No Sugar Please is a rich dark chocolate brown polish.

When I first painted it on I got a little worried as the initial coat was so translucent but as soon as I applied the second coat I was looking at a fully opaque polish. The brush is amazing! It is thick so I only needed to paint the brush over my nails twice to get full nail coverage.

The dry time was fairly fast which was very exciting.

No Sugar Please (2)Just look at that shine! I didn’t add a top coat.

Nothing To Prove

Nothing To Prove (1)I am slightly obsessed with Nude polishes and Nothing To Prove didn’t disappoint!

The formula for both the polishes was exceptionally great and I found the smell of the polish was really pleasant too, it didn’t over-power the room.

Aesthetically this my all time favorite Nail polish bottle shape, its just so different!

Nothing To Prove (2)I am really confident that this is a must try brand for all you local ladies.

What do you think of these Neutrals?

They have a massive collection of pretty polishes (including Holo’s, Yipeee) If you want to see more swatches check out Michelle from OrdinaryMisfit review here.

Ok so you can check out this brand on the following Platforms:

Facebook, Twitter & on their Website.

31DC2014: Day 13-Animal Print

Good Morning my dear’s.

Today is yet another beautiful day 😀

chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-just-peachy

Today we make tribute to the animal kingdom. I love this prompt, I love seeing all the various animal prints used for inspiration.

Today I am doing good ol’faithful Mr. Leopard.

I couldn’t remember the last time I did a leopard print so thought I would try do it again.

20140816_004414

I used some very neutral colours:

  • Essence Colour & Go “Wanna Say Hello”
  • Essence Colour & Go “Go Bold”
  • Essence Colour & Go “1000 Miles Away”

20140816_004342

To me this is one of the easiest types of nail art to do, as no spot is the same! So how can you mess it up?

I normally go an buy 3 nail polishes and a dotting tool, I then print a little “how to guide” on leopard print nail art and I give that as gifts to people. Its pretty fun to make these packs 😀

[Review] Nail Candi: Nail Ring

Happy Wednesday,

So usually I do a comparison post today but I was playing with my Nail Candi nail ring last night and got inspired. The nail art I did is so pretty in my opinion so I couldn’t wait until Friday to share.

20140722_203523

I wanted to use colours the complimented the Rose Gold colour of the Nail Ring so I decided to use Revlon ColourStay Fall Mood and Tip Top Melting Marshmallow.

20140722_203640

I love how it came out, I just did random dots of Various sizes. I prefer Melting Marshmallow dots over Fall Mood vs. the other way around. What do you think?

Lastly I added the Nail Ring.

20140722_203936I think it looks very pretty.

I have a few concerns though…

Firstly when I first got all the Goodies from Nail Candi my nails were seriously long! So long that when I first tried on the ring, my nail was showing at the end of it. I definitely was not going to cut my nails at that point and so I left it to review at a later stage.

I also struggled with fit, my fingers are slightly thin so the ring didn’t fit on any of my fingers, it just slid down and looked silly really. I did bend it a little to get the finger space a little tighter but not too much to warp the metal.

I think that in terms of rings its very important to have a size scale. I don’t think a one size fits all approach works because we are not all one size.

Other than that I really love this trend! And would love to try other rings to see how they work for me.

All in all I give the Nail Candi nail ring a 3 out of 5.

Rating 3

But this is only because of my skinny fingers and used-to-be Long nails.

What do you think?

Swatch Stick Project *Pic Heavy

Hello everyone 😀

Today I have something really exciting to show you… Well it was really exciting for me hehe!

I bought a bunch of swatch sticks so that I could have an easy reference system for my polishes.

400 Swatch Sticks

400 Swatch Sticks

I started by getting all my polishes in 1 pile and over the weeks as a polish was swatched it would be packed away so that I didn’t swatch it again (Lets just say I did double swatch a few… Wasn’t impressed!)

Polish Chaos

Polish Chaos

I didn’t really have any pattern in my swatching process, I literally just pulled up random polishes and went for it.

Most of the swatch sticks are 2 coats except the glitters and the very translucent colours.

The Swatch Line

The Swatch Line

I did one coat on each let them dry and then started again. I had to leave them to dry overnight so they wouldn’t get damaged.

Colour Coding

Colour Coding

My all time favorite part of the whole project was colour coding the swatches. I only had 8 rings to work with so it was a challenge to sit and sort them. I am slightly OCD in the sense that everything has to be colour coded! Even my clothes & shoes are colour coded!

Glitter Swatches

Glitter Swatches

What I love is now I can see what colours I need… For example I dont have any Black or White Glitter polishes… Now I need those lol! And I have very little Chunky Glitter polishes.

Black, Grey & Silver Swatches

Purple Swatches

Blue Swatches

Green, Yellow & Gold Swatches

Orange & Red Swatches

Pink Swatches

Pink & Nude Swatches

The project as a whole was really fun! I did it to help alleviate the clutter in my room, I now know what I have and where it is.

Someone asked me what is the purpose of the sticks if I dont do other peoples nails… Well it helps see what colours are similar and which colours compliment each other. It will help to decide what colours to use for nail art too.

Now each time I get a new polish (or polishes) I can swatch it and slot it in where it belongs.

How do you keep track of your polishes?

I have a spreadsheet on google docs (see here) but I also have a Nail polish app that catalogues polishes by brand and then colour (I’m still busy adding pics to it, see app here {This app is for Android phones}) & now the swatch sticks too.

Like I have said before, there is loads of admin linked to Nail art blogging, these tools just make it so much easier to manage it all!

I hope you enjoyed this and got a few tips & idea’s for your own collections!

Essence Colour & Go 124 Wanna Say Hello

Good Morning,

Today I have “Wanna Say Hello” to show you. Literally every time I see this polish I think of Chocolate… Then I start singing “Sweet Like Chocolate” by Shanks & Bigfoot. If you don’t know the song here it is on YouTube… Yes I know that is extremely random but that’s my brain for you lol.

Inglot 715 Matte Nail Polish

715

715

This was my first ever Inglot polish, I got is about 2 years ago, yes that’s correct 2 years! I think that is the brilliant  thing about their polishes, I have not had to thin it down it still works as if it were brand new.

This beige polish is one of my all time fav’s because of its matte finish and super smooth application.

Have you ever tried Inglot polishes?

Tip Top Swatches

I am finally making a dent in my crazy full swatch box.

The Scary Swatch box

The Scary Swatch box

About 2 months ago I won a prize on the Tip Top FB page for myself and 3 friends. These are the goodies I got in the hamper.

Tip Top Prize

It consisted of 4 Colours, a Crackle and a Treatment.

I have never been much of a green polish fan but 137 Army Vibes is a pop of colour and it actually looks stunning on my nails! It reminds me of Kiwi’s, so I feel somewhat healthy wearing it.

I really want to do a Kiwi Mani, when I swatched this polish I attempted a Kiwi Mani but it was not blog worthy lol so I took it off immediately!

137 Army Vibes

137 Army Vibes

Army Vibes is part of the “Nail Addict” collection available at Foschini. (PS the “Nail Chic” is available at Clicks stores.)

Sticking with the colours of Nature I will now show you 148 Stone Age, a warm and delightful Brown polish.

148 Stone Age

148 Stone Age

It’s very earthy tone is very interesting but I think brown polishes are generally an acquired taste if that makes sense.

I then moved on to a neutral that is a little more my taste, 132 Urban Chic. I love nude polishes!

132 Urban Chic

132 Urban Chic

Urban Chic has a peach tone to it. It gives off the look of a naked nail while still looking effortlessly chic!

The last Colour is 108 Popsicle, this polish has a beautiful shimmer.

I have really enjoyed using Tip Top products lately, they are so easy to apply, they dry quickly and if treated correctly last a long time.

My Tip Top collection is slowly growing and I have had the opportunity to fall in love with them every time I use them! Also the brand is Proudly South African! Local is Lekker! Hehe

I then went on to try out the crackle polish I got. U Crack Me Up in “Iceberg”

I have worked with quite a few crackles now and this crackle actually crackles like a house of cracked paint where as others just split.

U Crack Me Up

U Crack Me Up

I wore it over 148 Stone Age. Reminds me of a forgotten building, a rustic peeling shed kind of vibe.

My Tip Top swatches were the last swatches I did before I started my Nail Rehab program (Lol it sounds so weird but I literally have done this see the post here)

After I removed the last swatch I soaked my hands and painted the Tip Top “All in One” Top & Base coat.
