{Review} Born Pretty Store Goodies

Good Morning all you lovelies,

I was sent some awesome goodies to test & try from Born Pretty Store and boy were they goodies!

I am part of the affiliate program and I was emailed by my rep who gave me a budget and I got to choose what I wanted to review. I chose 4 items but today I am only going to show you 2 of them.

Review copyI have been brain storming the heck out of these 2 items to see what I could come up with. I am so excited to show you what I did because a massive amount of time and effort went in it.

20141105_214813So I used the following items for my Mani:

The water decal SH02ย & the 3D Nail Jewel.

20141105_214837I went for a full on vintage look.

I spent a great deal of time cutting out all the little flowers and putting them on my nails but I also added a full nail to show you what it would look like.

It was really easy to apply the decals, I just submerged them in a bit of water for a minute & then placed them on my nails using a tweezers.

In terms of the 3D jewel I used Seche Vite to attach it to my nail (Although nail glue would make it stick longer). But if you lost a jewel that would be ok because you get 5 if you order them.

I painted a Matte topcoat over everything to seal it off and tah-dah a super easy vintage mani.

What do you think?

31DC2014: Day 17-Glitter

Happy Happy middle of the week ๐Ÿ˜€

chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-just-peachy

We are almost at the end of the Styles section. I normally manage to get this far, I struggle when it comes to the “Inspired by” section. Eeek its so close.

Anyway so today is Glitter, so lets get “Sparkly”

20140817_152418

I used:

  • China Glaze “Glistening Snow”
  • TOY “Lila”
  • L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art Liner “Vibrant”
  • Born Pretty Store Glitter Kitย

As with glitter, I always struggle to capture how it looks in real life on camera. So I did the usual flash and no flash

Below is with Flash

And without flash.

This challenge is starting to get tough, its difficult to be inspired every single day. But I am going to trudge on and finish this challenge!

31DC2014: Day 9-Rainbow Nails

Hello my dears,

I hope you are all ready for a new day, today is Rainbows ๐Ÿ˜€

chalkboard-nails-31-day-challenge-2014-just-peachy

I love Rainbows! LOVE!

I didn’t want to paint a rainbow, so I decided on Rainbow Glitter. Let me just say this now… This mani took me a good 2 hours to do. I put a movie on while I did this… The movie finished before I did lol.

20140815_214227

I used the following:

  • China Glaze “Strap On Your Moon Boots”
  • Born Pretty Store Glitter Kit (Get it Here)

I know what you are thinking… 2 hours for glitter… Yup, but its so relaxing!

I took multiple photo’s because I seriously struggled to capture its rainbowness effectively!

So this on is No Flash.

Swatch Stick Project *Pic Heavy

Hello everyone ๐Ÿ˜€

Today I have something really exciting to show you… Well it was really exciting for me hehe!

I bought a bunch of swatch sticks so that I could have an easy reference system for my polishes.

400 Swatch Sticks

400 Swatch Sticks

I started by getting all my polishes in 1 pile and over the weeks as a polish was swatched it would be packed away so that I didn’t swatch it again (Lets just say I did double swatch a few… Wasn’t impressed!)

Polish Chaos

Polish Chaos

I didn’t really have any pattern in my swatching process, I literally just pulled up random polishes and went for it.

Most of the swatch sticks are 2 coats except the glitters and the very translucent colours.

The Swatch Line

The Swatch Line

I did one coat on each let them dry and then started again. I had to leave them to dry overnight so they wouldn’t get damaged.

Colour Coding

Colour Coding

My all time favorite part of the whole project was colour coding the swatches. I only had 8 rings to work with so it was a challenge to sit and sort them. I am slightly OCD in the sense that everything has to be colour coded! Even my clothes & shoes are colour coded!

Glitter Swatches

Glitter Swatches

What I love is now I can see what colours I need… For example I dont have any Black or White Glitter polishes… Now I need those lol! And I have very little Chunky Glitter polishes.

Black, Grey & Silver Swatches

Purple Swatches

Blue Swatches

Green, Yellow & Gold Swatches

Orange & Red Swatches

Pink Swatches

Pink & Nude Swatches

The project as a whole was really fun! I did it to help alleviate the clutter in my room, I now know what I have and where it is.

Someone asked me what is the purpose of the sticks if I dont do other peoples nails… Well it helps see what colours are similar and which colours compliment each other. It will help to decide what colours to use for nail art too.

Now each time I get a new polish (or polishes) I can swatch it and slot it in where it belongs.

How do you keep track of your polishes?

I have a spreadsheet on google docs (see here) but I also have a Nail polish app that catalogues polishes by brand and then colour (I’m still busy adding pics to it, see app here {This app is for Android phones}) & now the swatch sticks too.

Like I have said before, there is loads of admin linked to Nail art blogging, these tools just make it so much easier to manage it all!

I hope you enjoyed this and got a few tips & idea’s for your own collections!

And here is a little glitter tip that might just make your life loads better…

When ever we order Pizza Take-outs we get all our extra’s like Chilli’s and such in little plastic containers.

I keep mine and use them for various Nail Art storage options but one of my favs is as a glitter catcher!

My Glitter Catcher

Just helps contain any mess because glitter sticks to everything!

So thats it, first day down and so many more fun ones to come.

Pink Hexigon-Glitter Mani

A while back I bought hexagon glitter from The Born Pretty Store and I have tried it out once or twice but decided to add it to my frequently used goodies because it really is a beautiful addition to any nail!

Glitter Borders

Glitter Borders

I have said this before but it really is so relaxing adding the glitter one piece at a time. You get lost in only concentrating on your nails and when you look again anything that was consuming your brain space has been cleared out and you are left rested… and have pretty nails.

For this Mani I used:

Essence Colour & Go 106 Free Hugs (2 Coats), 105 Party Princess (1 Coat) and 101 Absolute Pure (To apply Glitter). And of course the Silver Hexagon Glitter.

Essence Twins Reloaded- Romeo & Julia

Hello there,

A while back I had the pleasure of attending a event where I got to choose some lovely products. Here is a post on some of what I chose.

Essence has a range called Twins Reloaded and there are a few polishes all named after famous movie couples. Today I have for you… Romeo & Julia.

Romeo & Julia

The couples are arranged by Base coat & Matching Glitter topper.

I really loved these two polishes but decided to give them a little edge…
