O.P.I Polishes

Hi everyone,

I have a very full post for you today šŸ˜€

I have another batch of Polishes I got for Xmas… Well 6 of them are presents and the other 2 were prizes from OPI South Africa. Only got them in Feb though, I couldnt wait until my long nails grew back so I swatched them on my medium length nails.

Steady As She Rose

Steady As She Rose

Out of all 8 polishes, Steady As She Rose is my favorite! Its from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection (2011). Its a soft Lavender with a nude twist. VERY appealing and I got so many compliments on the colour as well. I did 2 coats no Top Coat.

I Vant To Be A-Lone Star

I Vant To Be A-Lone Star

My mom bought me a Sparrow Midi Ring so I thought I might start adding it to my swatches… If I remember each time lol.

I Vant To Be A-Lone Star is from the Texas Collection (2011) and is stunningly soft blue with a beautiful shimmer.

It's Totally Fort Worth It

It’s Totally Fort Worth It

It’s Totally Fort Worth It is also from the Texas Collection (2011) and is a silver shimmer polish with pink glitter. I am not sure if I am totally a fan of this one yet.

Lucky Lucky Lavender

Lucky Lucky Lavender

Lucky Lucky Lavender was one of the Nail Polishes I won as a prize from OPI a year ago… I swatched it back then but figured since I have improved and actually never wrote about it that I would just throw it in with this lot. Its from the Hong Kong Collection (2010). I personally find this polish to be pink rather than Lavender.

Planks A Lot

Planks A Lot

Planks A Lot is also from theĀ Pirates of the Caribbean Collection (2011). While googling this collection I noted that the entire collection, besides the silver crakle polish, is stunning! This polish is a darker than Steady as She Rose but a true Lavender comparison! Plus I am a purple girl all the way!

Kreme De La Kremlin

Kreme De La Kremlin

Kreme De La Kremlin is from the Russian Collection (2007) and is a dusty rose, I plan on doing a Comparison Post as it is very Similar to Revlon’sĀ Colorstay 310 Vintage Rose & EssenceĀ 111 English Rose.

Chick Flick Cherry

Chick Flick Cherry

Is one of the rare Red Polishes I actually love! I always lean more to a Wine Red rather than a bright Red when Red Polish is concerned! Chick Flick Cherry is part of the OPI Classics Collection, I searched high and low to see other bloggers feelings on this polish and weirdly I couldn’t find a single post on it.

This is the other polish I won from OPI.

Excuse Moi!

Excuse Moi!

Excuse Moi! is from the Muppet’s Holiday Collection (2011) and for some reason people rave about it… Me personally, I don’t see what the big fuss is all about. Its pretty I will give you that but in my books its a pretty average glitter polish. Maybe if I top coated it I would feel differently. It has a multitude of various glitter but predominantly consists of of Silver and Pink glitters with smaller glitters inĀ silver, gold, red, orange, green, pink and blue.

That’s almost all my Xmas prezzie polishes done. I have 6 more polishes coming in the following weeks.

Fashion In The Forest event with TOY Nail Polish *Pic Heavy

Happy Tuesday everyone,

So remember when I did a post about TOY Lila, well it got me recognized by the owner of TOY South Africa which lead to an awesome opportunity to do the Nail Art for the Fashion In The Forest event held at Groot Constantia Historical Wine Estate over the past weekend.

I was sent the entire collection to play with on Friday before the show.

The collection consists of 29 Colours & a Top Coat and a new collection is released every 2 months!!! That’s pretty awesome!

Below is the Colour Chart to have a peek at šŸ˜€

COLOR CHARTI managed to swatch a few of my Favorites before the event.

These polishes are pretty great, their dry time is really fast taking 50 seconds for the first coat and 1.5 minutes on the second coat. The formula is really smooth and easy to apply and most of the polishes only need 1 coat!

Swatch Stick Project *Pic Heavy

Hello everyone šŸ˜€

Today I have something really exciting to show you… Well it was really exciting for me hehe!

I bought a bunch of swatch sticks so that I could have an easy reference system for my polishes.

400 Swatch Sticks

400 Swatch Sticks

I started by getting all my polishes in 1 pile and over the weeks as a polish was swatched it would be packed away so that I didn’t swatch it again (Lets just say I did double swatch a few… Wasn’t impressed!)

Polish Chaos

Polish Chaos

I didn’t really have any pattern in my swatching process, I literally just pulled up random polishes and went for it.

Most of the swatch sticks are 2 coats except the glitters and the very translucent colours.

The Swatch Line

The Swatch Line

I did one coat on each let them dry and then started again. I had to leave them to dry overnight so they wouldn’t get damaged.

Colour Coding

Colour Coding

My all time favorite part of the whole project was colour coding the swatches. I only had 8 rings to work with so it was a challenge to sit and sort them. I am slightly OCD in the sense that everything has to be colour coded! Even my clothes & shoes are colour coded!

Glitter Swatches

Glitter Swatches

What I love is now I can see what colours I need… For example I dont have any Black or White Glitter polishes… Now I need those lol! And I have very little Chunky Glitter polishes.

Black, Grey & Silver Swatches

Purple Swatches

Blue Swatches

Green, Yellow & Gold Swatches

Orange & Red Swatches

Pink Swatches

The project as a whole was really fun! I did it to help alleviate the clutter in my room, I now know what I have and where it is.

Someone asked me what is the purpose of the sticks if I dont do other peoples nails… Well it helps see what colours are similar and which colours compliment each other. It will help to decide what colours to use for nail art too.

Now each time I get a new polish (or polishes) I can swatch it and slot it in where it belongs.

How do you keep track of your polishes?

I have a spreadsheet on google docs (see here) but I also have a Nail polish app that catalogues polishes by brand and then colour (I’m still busy adding pics to it, see app here {This app is for Android phones}) & now the swatch sticks too.

Like I have said before, there is loads of admin linked to Nail art blogging, these tools just make it so much easier to manage it all!

I hope you enjoyed this and got a few tips & idea’s for your own collections!

Essence Colour & Go 141 Icy Princess

141 Icy Princess

141 Icy Princess

Today is my Birthday, I am officially 23!

And today is also a new swatch day so I have Icy Princess for you today!

Its a pretty cool Silver polish if you ask me!

I hardly wear this polish on its own, its usually used for Nail Art as it has such a strong Silver shine to it, so it always stands out!

What is the best silver polish you have ever used?

Pink Hexigon-Glitter Mani

A while back I bought hexagon glitter from The Born Pretty Store and I have tried it out once or twice but decided to add it to my frequently used goodies because it really is a beautiful addition to any nail!

Glitter Borders

Glitter Borders

I have said this before but it really is so relaxing adding the glitter one piece at a time. You get lost in only concentrating on your nails and when you look again anything that was consuming your brain space has been cleared out and you are left rested… and have pretty nails.

For this Mani I used:

Essence Colour & Go 106 Free Hugs (2 Coats), 105 Party Princess (1 Coat) and 101 Absolute Pure (To apply Glitter). And of course the Silver Hexagon Glitter.

Halloween Challenge- Gothic

halloweenchallenge

Having a Gamer Bf is sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse! Its a blessing when he is playing his games and not interfering and you get hours to sit and play with your polishes. Its a Curse when you have posts to do and he has been playing for hours on the only PC available and you miss out on 2 challenge post days.

Lol

So the Challenge is Gothic and boy was it a challenge! I googled and looked up every possible polish related post to get inspired. Eventually I gave up and just winged it…

Gothic Mani

Gothic Mani

I was really impressed with the end result! I used a few different polishes.

For the Base, Essence Colour & Go 144 Black Is Back, L.A. Colors Art Deco Liner in NA914 Red, Models Own Silver Nail Art Pen, Tip Top- Sexy In The City Sprinkle Beads and Tip Top Nail Chic in Matt-Nificent (Ring Finger only).

I hand drew the Rose on my finger and was mighty chuffed when my friend asked me is it was a sticker hehe.

So That’s my Gothic Nails.
